From the Chair

I am honoured to be chairing the 8th Criminal Law Symposium. The symposium plays an important role in keeping practitioners current, and in providing an opportunity for those involved in the practice of criminal law to come together to learn and exchange ideas. The format will have a familiar look, and that is because it has been well-received in the past. I think this year will show we can maintain and build on that success.

The quality of the speakers is outstanding and I express my appreciation in advance to those who are making themselves available. The aim this year is to focus on core areas, and so the first three sessions address evidence, experts and sentencing. The fourth session is the criminal practice session with three discrete topics. As in past years there will be opportunity within each session for questions and comment.

If the practice of criminal law is your chosen career path or research interest, I suggest you seriously consider attending. I am excited by the group of speakers that we have been able to gather and feel sure you will not be disappointed.
Sincerely,

The Hon Justice Simon France
