Introduction

Negotiating interagency agreements and understanding your role in balancing Crown and agency interests are key skills in the government legal sector and both can be very challenging.

This seminar explores one journey in developing shared corporate service agreements between the Ministry of Social Development and Oranga Tamariki and the role government lawyers can have to add value in developing collaborative relationships between government agencies. While not specifically referenced, the authors also draw on their experiences in developing other relationship documents with other agencies.

We will discuss issues involved in defining and documenting collaborative interagency arrangements, challenges and insights and offer practical tips on developing collaborative agreements between agencies.
