Introduction

Doing business with any culture has its own unique issues that need to be navigated. This rings true for Māori not only in business, but in any relationship or partnership between Māori and government, or the private sector.

Māori operate at a multiplicity of contexts - at the whānau, hapū and iwi level – with varying degrees of socio-cultural and political considerations being balanced in each of these contexts. Therefore, understanding cultural drivers and the lens by which Māori see the world is critical in being able to work collaboratively with Māori.
