In 2010, the NZLS held a very popular first seminar on the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme. A range of topics was covered, with the overwhelming feedback being “please give us more”. This intensive follows from that comprehensive formula. The expert panel of presenters will not only update all relevant areas but will explore some areas in greater detail.
The intensive starts with an overview of domestic and international policy developments – life after Kyoto, “mind the gap”, and the NZ ETS Review. Then some of the complex forestry rules will be explained to assist lawyers advising clients on the looming application deadlines in the forestry area. Expert assistance from the Inland Revenue Department will be available to canvass some of the difficult tax treatment issues that practitioners are facing. A climate change consultant will show how he develops appropriate carbon trading strategies for different types of clients. Contractual issues in trading contracts and supply agreements will also be covered in depth.
