From the chair
On behalf of the 2024 Property Law Conference organising committee, I am delighted to invite you to the conference at the Crowne Plaza in Auckland. I believe we have chosen a venue that guarantees a successful event amid the culture and scenery of downtown Auckland.
Organising a conference is no easy task. Many hours go into curating topics and finding suitable speakers. Property law is an expansive subject and the ownership and the use of property is the one area of law that impacts everyone in society. For the organising committee the issue was too much choice – we had such a variety of topics and excellent speakers available to us it was difficult to choose the sessions to fit into our two-day programme. Our attendees, both in person and via the live web stream, will reap the rewards of this hard work as the programme on offer is rich and varied and our speakers have each been carefully selected as experts on their respective topics.
The conference is an opportunity to learn, engage and also interact with your colleagues. The sad reality of being a property lawyer is that we do not have the opportunities that we enjoyed historically to meet with other practitioners in person. The conference programme is fulsome but for the in person attendees there are also plenty of opportunities for informal networking in addition to a social occasion to celebrate our professional membership and further inductees to the “Hall of Fame”. This will be marked with drinks and canapés at the end of the first day’s sessions.
I look forward to seeing you all.
