While it is not necessary for you as a lawyer to have the financial insight that might be expected of an accountant, you should have an understanding of how to interpret financial statements. This seminar aims to unlock any mysteries you might find in making sense of key financial documents. It will assist you in providing legal advice to your clients concerning financial matters and may help with understanding the financial health of your own business too.

This seminar will include:

  • Understanding the key financial statements that should be prepared by each entity along with basic accounting concepts
  • Overview of the types of entities that prepare financial reporting and the key differences
  • Differences between management reporting and annual reporting and the importance of each
  • Understanding the key financial metrics for different types of entities, how they are calculated and how they can be used to indicate red flags
  • Use of a practical case study aimed at embedding the knowledge throughout the presentation.

Learning objectives

By attending this seminar you will:

  • Gain an understanding of key financial concepts and reports as they apply to your clients and your own business.
  • Be able to recognise the insights these reports provide.
