Within the topic of “subdivisions”, there are many sub-topics to consider. A paper delivered by a lawyer is unlikely to be able to usefully comment on civil works, engineering approvals, or even on survey matters, which is why this session combines survey and legal perspectives. Even from a “legal” perspective, the various sub-topics might include:
• what is a subdivision (in legal terms);
• legislation relating to subdivisions;
• different types of subdivision;
• effective project management of subdivisions (along with other professionals, such as surveyors);
• e-dealing issues;
• preparation of documents such as easements and covenants.
The topic of “subdivisions” very quickly becomes large, and outside the scope of half a webinar. As such, this paper focuses on two key issues: the conversion of cross-leases, and the conversion of unit titles. However, brief comments on other topics are also made.
These are the slides included in the presentation.
