Introduction

Dear Leader,
A common definition of leadership looks something the following:

Leadership is the process of influencing others to understand and agree about what needs to be done and how it can be done effectively, and the process of facilitating individual and collective efforts to accomplish the shared objectives.1

The definition that most drives my own work is:

Being the best person that you can be in the service of the goals and aspirations of your organisation or community.2

The focus of this webinar is on one aspect of your leadership – how you can help improve
the performance of others. The purpose of this workbook is to help you reflect on your
leadership as the basis for better understanding your opportunities for being a better catalyst for performance improvement.

To make the most of this guide, take some time to complete the sections and then reflect
on the material prior to the Leadership and Performance webinar.

I hope you enjoy the preparation material and look forward to talking to you on the webinar.
