What is the Ombudsman’s perspective on how the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) is currently operating, and some new ideas regarding where it might head.
Chief Ombudsman Judge Peter Boshier will share his perspective on what the OIA is and how it is currently working.
He will discuss and give guidance on key issues under the Act, its uses in practice as well as some ideas for the future.
Discussion will also include the importance of s 23 OIA – finding out the reasons for a decision when advising clients as to options to challenge a decision; and jurisdiction in the Local Government Official Information and Meeting Act 1987 (LGOIMA).
