The much-anticipated Trusts Act 2019 comes into force on 31 January 2021 with fundamental changes for practitioners working in this area including information that must be provided by trustees to beneficiaries of family trust. Following on from a successful four-part webinar series, this forum will help ensure that you are prepared for the commencement of the new Act by considering the practical changes that you need to be aware of when updating your older trust deeds, preparing wills, and advising settlor/trustee clients.

This forum focuses the lens on the key changes to New Zealand trust law and will include practical advice and examples for varying your existing trust deeds, your options for trust deeds without adequate variation powers, changes to your will precedents, and advising settlor and trustee clients.

Topics covered will include:

  • Varying trust deeds in advance of the new Act
  • Options for trust deeds that cannot be varied
  • Ensuring your other precedents are up to date
  • Advising settlor and trustee clients
  • Practical guidance and examples.
